Headset Mic Picks Up Breathing
For some reason it sounds like i am blowing in my headset like every soft breath can be heard loud by friends over skype.
Headset mic picks up breathing. Try plugging a dedicated microphone or headset into your pc. I record commentary after the video and then put it together later. Its a fata1ity gaming headset. Is there a special position the mic has to be in to stop picking up my breathing.

While using headphones check whether they are fully plugged in or not into the microphone jack of your computer. This was just normal breathing and my old headsets skullcandy slyr s didn t pick up anything like this. Is there any windows setting i can change to reduce the noise picked up by my mic. It should be placed over the microphone s head.
Usually your laptop mic picks most of the unwanted sounds. Windshields offer up to 12db wind noise rejection and also will deliver a cleaner sound. Same happens with general purpose mic. This can become noticeable when recording solo guitar pieces where there are no other instruments in the mix to mask the sound particularly quieter finger style pieces.
After getting the headset i played around with the mic in audacity a bit and noticed that my voice was extremely quiet however the headset was instead picking up my breathing. Lower the sensitivity of the microphone so it will only pick up when the noise is above certain level. So choose a relevant mic for your purpose to pick up even the subtle tones.
